is pre-workout nitric oxide energy-enhancing drink that has a lot of effective ingredients. These ingredients are geared towards the following:
There is a lot of flexibility in stacking White Flood, as there is no creatine or branched-chain amino acids inside. Let’s take a look at each component:
- Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AAKG) and Ornithine AKG
White Flood has both AAKG and Ornithine AKG. When people mention “Nitric Oxide”, this is really what they’re talking about. Arginine is a precursor for nitric oxide production and improves blood flow and nutrient delivery to muscles. OKG has been demonstrated to increase protein retention, speed up repair, and improve immune function by increasing levels of growth-promoting (anabolic) hormones such as insulin and growth hormone.
You don’t just drink ‘nitric oxide’ drinks – you drink products that contain AAKG and sometimes OKG, which helps you get more nitric oxide into the muscles. The amount in White Flood is typical, but some people may want to add 2-3g more AAKG on a heavy day for an even sicker pump.
“Arginine pumps” are not permanent, but AAKG does work. It increases peak output power, meaning you might be able to set some personal records on a good day with White Flood’s help.
- Beta Alanine
Beta alanine is an another impressive supplement. It is an amino acid which has been proven in research to reduce fatigue. It works by increasing the concentration of carnosine in your muscles.
This reduces fatigue because the carnosine created then helps expel nasty ammonia ammonia from your muscles. If your muscles run out of carnosine, you get fatigued. Taking beta alanine before working out gets you the important carnosine production — and you increase your endurance both during lifting and cardio. Many studies show this both in the field and in the lab.
There is a limit to how much beta alanine will really help, and some people also get a tingling feeling in their skin from beta alanine. This is one of the side effects, but it will not harm you. You can even add about 2-3g more beta alanine if you have a long workout planned.
- L-Tyrosine
L-tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid. It helps the brain produce the neurotransmitters L-dopa, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. All of these are necessary to regulate emotions. Without these neurotransmitters, feelings of sadness, anxiety, irritability and frustration can result. In addition, dopamine helps suppress appetite and reduce body fat, so it is good to have this created in your system as well.
Beyond increasing mood, L-tyrosine can help calm the body, increase energy and enhance libido. It is even used on Parkinson’s patients to assist with brain function.
- Inosine
Inosine is a nucleoside, one of the basic compounds comprising cells. It is a precursor to adenosine, an important energy molecule, and plays many supportive roles in the body.
Unfortunately, studies have shown inosine to be ineffective at increasing athletic performance, although it can help with stroke patients.
- Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA)
GABA supplementation is an awesome thing, and one thing we consider a not-so-secret weapon in White Flood. It is the most important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain, but is really an amino acid. Supplementation helps induce relaxation and calm.
The most important thing about GABA, however, is that it stimulates the anterior pituitary, leading to higher levels of Human Growth Hormone (HGH), which leads to you building muscle and preventing fat growth. One research study concluded that 5g of GABA supplementation resulted in HGH levels being increased 5x after 90 minutes – this is clearly something that you’d want in your pre-workout supplement, although there isn’t 5g of GABA in a serving of White Flood so your results will be a bit less.
- Glucuronolactone
You might recognize this one because it’s in Red Bull and various other energy drinks. Glucuronolactone has been shown to be a safe compound, and is a detoxification agent that helps improve liver function.
However, the most important aspect of glucuronolactone is that users report enhanced energy, mood, and alertness. This is due to its ability to stimulate glycogen synthesis, making it a fatigue-fighting performance enhancer.
- Natural Caffeine
We assume you’re familiar with caffeine. This is the main stimulant in White Flood, and is a definite performance enhancer. If White Flood is your first energy drink or pre-workout drink, you may want to use one scoop (half a serving) of White Flood to get used to the caffeine.
Caffeine improves mental focus and is thermogenic and heats you up (helping to burn fat). There’s about 100mg of caffeine in each scoop of White Flood.
- Potassium Gluconate
Potassium gluconate is prescribed for individuals who need to replenish their bodies’ potassium supply due to depletion from illness or certain medications. Potassium is an important electrolytes in the your body. Chemically speaking, it carries positive electrical charges through your blood and cells. This helps you balance your water levels, regulate the heart, and aids nerves.
But we’re interested in potassium gluconate because it contributes to the creation of energy from food and the growth of muscle cells – clearly something we want at workout time.
- Cocoa Bean (Extracted For 99% Theobromine)
Theobromine, also known as xantheose, is the primary alkaloid found in cocoa and chocolate. It is also in the tea plant, the kola nut, and acai berries. This compound is in the same family as caffeine, and has similar effects as a stimulant (although is weaker). It also helps to widen blood vessels, which can aid in nutrient delivery and decreases blood pressure.
Theobromine is a great stimulant to have alongside caffeine – it shouldn’t be depended on for pre-workout energy, but is a great aid.
- Evodia Rutaecarpa (95% Evodiamine Extract)
Evodiamine is a Chinese herb that comes from the plant Evodiae Fructus. It has been used for years as a fat-loss supplement by the Chinese. However, there are no human studies on evodiamine.
In the lab, however, evodiamine has shown to create effects that will raise body temperature and increase metabolism. It stimulates cells to reduce fat uptake while increasing the rate of fat-burn. Mammals and rodents that are fed a high-fat diet supplemented with evodiamine actually lose weight rather than gain it.
- L-Norvaline
L-Norvaline is a modified version of valine, the branched-chain amino acid. Studies show that L-Norvaline helps with muscular strength increases, growth, and endurance by blocking arginase. Arginase inhibits nitric oxide formation, so when you block arginase, your body is free to produce more NO and distribute it in more NO pathways, resulting in a better pump with the AAKG discussed above.
More arginine thanks to the L-Norvaline gives you better pumps during and after your workouts, along with increased vasodilatation and improved bloodflow to your muscles.
- Sugar Cane (Extracted For 60% Octacosanol)
Octacosanol is a compound that can come from many plants, including sugar cane. Studies show that it is useful in improving endurance and increasing oxygen utilization. It may also reduce blood cholesterol and help with Parkinson’s patients.
- Coenzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q10, also CoQ10 (pronounced like “ko-cue-ten”), is a phenomenal supplement that more pre-workout drinks should have. The primary requirement for CoQ10 in White Flood is to assist with the production of energy. Nearly ALL of your cellular functions depend on adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and CoQ10 is an important participant in the reaction that leads to ATP assisting with energy production.
Beyond energy production assistance, Coenzyme Q10 supplementation has a host of benefits, including helping with mitochondrial disorders, heart failure, migraines, cancer, blood pressure, and overall lifespan.
- Vincopetine
Vincopetine comes from the plant Vinca minor, and has several uses – most importantly, as a brain function aid and memory booster in healthy individuals. It is thought to increase blood circulation to the brain, and thus is prescribed to stroke and Alzheimer’s patients.
- Alpha-Carotene
Alpha-carotene is similar to the popular beta-carotene supplement, in that it gets converted to Vitamin A, which helps in the maintenance of skin and bones, good vision, and immune system function.
Alpha-carotene may be more effective than beta-carotene as an antioxidant. It will help prevent cell breakdown by removing dangerous free radicals.
- Zeaxanthin
Zeaxanthin is one of two cartenoids in the retina of the eye that helps protect against blindness. Lutein, also in White Flood, is the other cartenoid. While we’re not sure if there are any energy-enhancing effects of Zeaxanthin, it is nevertheless a great to supplement to have in your diet.
- Cryptoxanthin
Cryptoxanthin is a natural carotenoid pigment, and also gets converted to Vitamin A. It is an antioxidant, repairing DNA damage to cells, and also has anti lung cancer properties. This is an uncommon supplement, so it’s great to see it in White Flood.
- Lutein
Luetin is the other cartenoid (along with Zeaxanthin) in the retina of the eye that helps protect against blindness. This one is more familiar because most quality multivitamins contain Lutein now. Studies show that it does lower the risk of blindness, especially in people aged 65 and over.
Again, it may not be completely necessary in your pre-workout supplement, but since White Flood is already a great deal, we won’t complain that it also contains Lutein!
- Folic Acid
Folic acid (also known as vitamin B9) is essential for DNA repair, synthesis, and cell division and growth. It is thus necessary to have if you want to grow muscle.
Folic Acid is so important to the body that we’re not even going to list all of its benefits. Just make sure that you eat enough leafy vegetables (the best source), and if you don’t, supplement with extra folic acid – even beyond what is in White Flood.
- Selenium
Selenium is a mineral that is essential to good health. Only small doses are required. It is important to antioxidant enzymes named selenoproteins, which help prevent cellular damage from free radicals.
Taking selenium will also help other selenoproteins promote regular thyroid function as well as protect the immune system.
- Huperzia Seratta (Extracted For 99% Huperzine A)
Last (and least), Huperzine A. This is a naturally-occurring compound found in the plant firmoss Huperzia serrata. It is used for memory support, and has been used in China for centuries to prevent swelling and fever. It is effective in treating Alzheimer’s disease as well as enhancing memory in young students.
An impressive list of ingredients! Almost everything seems to have a great purpose. The amount of servings of White Flood you get for the price destroys all energy drinks out there. Not only that, but it’s healthier and muchbetter tasting.
